Heartburn Medicines

Q.My brothers dog is puking then shaking. She's been to the vet. They can find nothing wrong. Blood is fine, xrays over 8 hours show no blocks even with barrium. Vet gave heartburn type medicine to take every 12 hours and said if this doesn't work she'd need a scope done. Also not dehydrated. Well she puked again today. What could be the problem? She was fine til the pill may have worn off he's going to give it more frequently to see what happens. Can anyone in the group help me please?

A.Had same problem with our JRT. Vet prescribed prilosec....instead tried diet of boiled hamburg, drained and white rice added. Jack loved it and no more vomiting. Then gradually added dog food to it so eventually he was eating all dog food. Can use any beef or chicken as long as it is boiled and skin, fat etc. removed. If the breed of dog is small, they will sometimes have what mimics "morning sickness" .... try feeding the dog twice a day. First thing in the morning and then again around the dinner hour. Hopefully, the dog will outgrow it... mine seems to be doing better - they are six years old now. The symptoms subsided around the 2 year old. Number one I would go to a different vet and get a second opinion. Second, she might be allergic to what you are feeding her. My one dog has severe allergies to food. She can eat her dog food, ice cubes and baby carrots. That is it. You give her any other kind of food or bone and she will vomit for hours, shake and whine. It is ashame, I feel bad that she cant have a treat of any kind, but no matter what we try she just has really bad allergic reactions. You should have her allergy tested and check out some other vets in the area.
