Heartburn Meds

Q.My TSH was .02 on the 5th day past ovulation(conception), and I'm now 17 days pregnant. Based on the low value of .02, my endo asked me to stop taking the 50mcg/day syntrhoid now, but I know pregnant women usually need thyroid meds increase instead of decrease or even stopping taking meds as the endo suggested. I do not have any symtoms of synthroid overdose, except heartburn that might come from pregnancy. My heart rate is 80/minute, and I usually have constipation rather than diarrhea. I requested a new thyroid test to see the new TSH, but the doc insisted on putting me off synthroid for 3 weeks and retest by then???? What should I do? I heard it's dangerous to stop taking synthroid while pregnant and the most important thing is I do not have any symtoms of overdose, I have pretty normal heart rate and I feel tired & sleepy all the time. Can anyone in the group help me please?

A.A thing to consider was the time of day of the testing. On Synthoid, the test should be done in the morning only. This is because TSH is at its highest point while we sleep, so you want to test first thing in the morning. At 2PM, TSH is at its lowest point. You could try as your doctor recommended for a few days and if you feel the hypo symptoms coming back you could call the doctor and ask if perhaps you could split the 50mcg pill and take 25 mcg until the retest. About the constipation.....try adding walnuts or almonds in cereal each morning or in a salad at lunch time. This may help. I do tis every day, along with taking a fiber supplement and 2 teaspoons of organic apple cider vinegar in ice tea before dinner. Do not take any herbs while pregnant. All you want for treating your condition while pregnant is thyroid medication. Make sure to get your thyroid tested every 4-6 weeks making sure your morning TSH is around 1.0 Below is a good thyroid site ..
