Heartburn Prevention

Q.I'm 40 weeks, due in a few days. Within the last week I've been finding I have aggrivating heartburn. I have no idea what Ic an do to stop / contol it. I'm eating plain oatmeal with cinimon and a glass of watered down apple juice right now, and it hurts. Can anyone here in the group help me please?

A.I don't really have any original heartburn-prevention ideas besides the old standards of eat little bits at a time, eat dry toast (yuck), don't eat before lying down, sleep semisitting if it bugs you a lot at night, stuff like that. Get some Mylanta! If you do not feel like taking that (my doctor recommended it, he said his wife drank it regularly with their children) milk is supposed to help and peppermint. But i would go for the Mylanta! I understand the feeling I am 37 weeks and everything I eat gives me heartburn. I love Orange juice and it is the worst, but I drink it anyway! Have you tried chewing papaya tablets? They're available at any good health food store and are really helpful for heartburn. They're very mild and good tasting. I like to go that route as opposed to tums or similar products since the papaya works well but doesn't interfere with the essential balance of acids in your stomach. (from what I understand, tums/mylanta is a short term solution since the stomach must then produce *more* acid to get back to where it needs to be)
