Heartburn SymptomQ.This morning I woke up at 5:30-ish with some heartburn. I immediately took a zantac 75 and went back to sleep. I woke up maybe an hour later, and the heartburn was back, so I took another zantac... but this time it did absolutely nothing. A little back-story... starting about two years ago, every now and then I get absolutely EXCRUCIATING heartburn (though I didn't know it was heartburn the first time it happened--I thought I was dying). I don't have an ulcer, and the doctors don't know what it is, but my mom described the same symptoms and said she had a pre-ulcerous lesion, so I figure that's what I have. She told me to take antacids and I'd be fine, and that has worked for me for two years. Until this morning. This morning, I ended up taking 3 zantacs and 2 of these herbal supplement things my stepmom gave me that worked before, and I was STILL up for 2 hours pleading with god to make it stop. ...Should I go back to the hospital and see if they can figure it out now? A.have them check your gall bladder. that's exactly what used to happen to me til I got mine removed a couple years ago, it was full of stones and ready to blow-so I was lucky--now that it's out, I don't even need antacids ever, and I was a total junkie. It's very easy surgery, lathroscopic, if you don't have too much infection. I had to wait 24 hours with antibiotic drip and nothing by mouth, and then they were able to go in the easy way--otherwise you end up with a pretty substantial incision--but it's totally worth it. 1) take a serious look at what you are eating and drinking 2) we live in a time that promotes coffee, but I found that the acid in coffee was tearing my stomach and esophagus apart, to the point that I was experiencing those terrible liquid acid burps that would cause me to choke and lose my breath 3) I saw specialists and they put me on Tagamet, 2 x daily I stopped drinking coffee completely, and found that in a matter of time the situation got better. 2 yrs later I still take Tagamet and the acid burps are all but gone, but the heartburn is still an issue. I will continue taking Tagamet until the situation no longer exists or the Dr prescribes something better.
