Herbal Remedy Acid Reflux

Q.Any herbal remedies for heartburn? I get it real bad. Tums extra-strength doesn't do anything and I try tagamet and Pepsid AC and they work sometimes. It doesn't seem to matter what I eat. I have it at least 4 times a week. No health insurance so I can't afford a doctor or a perscription. So can anyone in the group suggest another herbal remedy for me please?

A.I would strongly suggest going to a doc- look into clinics and your local hospital- they often have programs for people to get free or inexpensive health care- if nothing else, most counties have a health service- this sounds like it might be something serious (or might not be- better safe than sorry though). My grandmother had the same sorts or symptoms and it turned out to be an ulcer. (Fairly easily treatable, but needs to be taken care of). I'm sorry I can't really help you out with the herbals (kinda new at this), but I think it's important to find out exactly what is causing the problem to treat it correctly. In the meantime, I would lay off of spicy foods, and make sure you eat a little something every few hours- if it is an ulcer, this may help. (Even a piece of bread or two will help, usually).
