Treat acid reflux in babies

Q.How do you treat acid reflux in babies?

A.My daughter had a preemie baby at 26 weeks and had acid reflux too.About the only thing you can do is take your baby to its doctor.It is very hard for baby's to fed,with acid reflux.My daughters baby even,stopped eating for a time,because it hurt her so much,that she would not eat.They put her on some medication for it and than she started to improve. Having had 2 children w/ acid reflux, my trick was to: a) put a tablespoon or 2 of infant rice cereal in their formula. the cereal weights down the contents of the infants stomach and keeps it from coming back up. b) keep the child in a semi-sitting position for an hour or so after feeding. Mine was diagnosed at 4 months with it - when she started babbling at the doctors and she had this huskly little voice like Lauren Bacall - I thought it was her natural voice but the doctor figured out it was the acid that had been bothering her voicebox... They gave me baby Zantac (prescript). Also heard that thickening the bottle with a bit of cereal helps keep it down rather than flaring up the esophagus.
