Infant Acid Reflux Disease

Q.My one and a half month old niece has acid reflux disease and my sisterinlaw is at wits end.? my 1 and a half month old niece has acid reflux disease,my sister in law is at wits end shes worried sick ,this her first baby.we are all concerned about the health of this beautiful baby girl. marianne is giving the baby zantac, which only works at night if at all.little mia rose is healthy otherwise,shes gaining weight and looks healthy.what is the outlook for an infant with this affliction? so can anyone in the group help my sister please?

A.My little girl had reflux terribly when she was a baby..so bad we had to see a surgeon...luckily she did not end up having to have surgery but she was on Zantac and Reglan (generic Metaclopramide) she was terrible so bad I afraid to lat her down at night and she alept on my arm for the first 4 months..which isn't the safest thing either but it is very scary for parents especially first time ones. But eventually she did slow down...the bigger she got the less she spit up and about 8 months of age she was able to stop her medication...it was amazing how much it improved over the months. So hopefully she too will grow out of this. The good thing is she is growing and gaining weight which means she is getting plenty to eat..thats a great thing. Tell your sis to hang in there...she can try things like holding her more upright after eating for 30 minutes and they say feeding smaller amounts more frequently helps as well...I didn't have alot of success with that but maybe it will help her
