Infant Acid Reflux Treatment

Q.My daughter is such a delight but also was fussy. We started nursing on one side per nursing and also holding her upright for a 1/2 hr after nursing. She has infant acid reflux and until we identified it we weren't sure what else to do either. If you think this is something you would like to discuss more, let me know. And can you suggest any treatment for me please?

A.it will get better, but maybe next week, or 3 months. Our son (now 6) had what we now call colic. He *screamed* from 4:30-10:00pm. He would also sometimes have bouts during the day. I did a lot of bouncing and walking outside with him. The best positions were football hold (laying on his tummy on my arm) and sitting on my arms facing out with his knees higher than his belly. I also tried infant Mylicon which at the time I thought was helping, but it probably didn't help much. Really, sometimes it seems so awful because it has got to hurt to cry so hard!! Someone told me it could be an "immature gut" but I don't know how to determine that. I know there is no answer here, but I have to say one thing: When the screaming ceased and he aged just a bit, he was THE happiest and joyful baby; playful, easy to take out to eat or shopping, played on the floor with toys, etc. Hang in there and take turns during this time. We also felt it was easier to be outside walking to kind of spread the noise out a bit ;) Take care and it DOES get better for the little guy.
