Infant With Acid Reflux

Q.Does anyone have an opinion on Nutramigen formula? Both of my son's ( 5 years old and now the six month old) were on Nutramigen formula. Both supposedly for milk allergy and for GERD (acid reflux) But being on the formula did nothing to improve the vomitting accociated with these conditions. We quit giving the 6 month old the Nutramigen and put him back on a milk based formula.( the five year old was never changed back to anything when he was an infant). He ( the six month old) is doing excellent now. I think the Nutramigen was causing more harm than good. It's nasty ( it's basically oil and water and really stinks) and way overpriced. Any opinions or will someone else share thier experiance with this???

A.I feel the complete opposite of you....Nutramigen formula for our daughter was liquid gold. For the longest time all she would do is scream and cry. She very rarely was having a bowl movement and she was extremely gassy. As soon as we put her on Nutramigen she became so much better. The fussiness stopped and she is a really happy baby. She too has acid reflux and as for that she still spits up a lot. However, she is on a medication called Axid which helps prevent the burning sensation when she does spit up. I did have her on Similac Ailmentium but that only seemed to make her worse. I LOVE Nutramigen even though it does smell bad and make her poops smell worse, she is the happy baby that I knew she could be. It is worth all the money in the world if my baby is not in pain. The new Nutramigen is better than the older one, or there is Alamentum by similac, if vomiting is a problem try Enfamil AR, it has a consistency more like wet cornstarch.
