What is a good heartburn medication i get get in a generic form?

Q.I used to take prevacid for my heartburn a while ago then I stopped taking it when my heartburn went away but now it is getting bad again.My presription copay went up to $50 dollars for brand name medications. What is something good I can take that comes in a generic form?

A.Pepcid works well. Gavascon is awesome, but you know what works the best for me, and it is the cheapest by far is sodium bicarbonate.
