Natural Heartburn RemedyQ.3-4 months ago, I started suffering gas, bloating, a general discomfort in my stomach. I also had hunger pains. All of this after I took Amoxcylin for my Tonsalities, and my stomach virus I had after the bacteria infection. I went to my doctor and he gave me Dicyclomine, and I started taking Lactaid and gas pills. He also took stool samples for blood, which there weren't any. The medicines didn't eliminate my symptoms, but it helped. Than I started taking Naproxen for an injured knee. I was on and off it for 1-2 weeks, than I started getting this massive burning sensation in my stomach. I thought it was heartburn, I mean, cause it burns, I also had this knawing feeling in my stomach and sometimes I had diarraha to. Pepto Bismol helps, as well as Tums. I went to my doc, he says stop taking Naproxen, which I have for about 1 week now. When you push my stomach below the chest in the middle, it hurts. He said I had GERD. He prescribed Cimetidine, (4 weeks worth) which I took for about 1 week now. At first 3 days it was awesome. No gas, no burning pain. Than last Friday I ate some spicy candy, not real hot, mild, and drank some soda which my doc says I shouldn't do. Well the next Day I woke up with a mild burning sensation in my throat, which cleared up in a day, during that time and now I have suffered burning feeling in my stomach. Hell, this morning was awful, I woke up with a mild headache, ate some cereal with Lactaid, than 2-3 minutes later had lots of stools. My stomach burned like a bitch. Than 10 minutes later had diarraha. It was super clear, like pure water. I took Pepto-Bismal and it helped. I feel better now but, man what is this? C Can anyone in the group help me please? A.Are you lactose intolerant? I am assuming you are. I am, myself. I find that I cannot tolerate the lactaid tablets. They act as if I had actually consumed lactose. I've heard that this happens to some people. Me, I am extremely intolerant of lactose. Some medications, prescribed and OTC have lactose in their inactive ingredients. Boy is it an ACTIVE one for me! Anyway, you might want to look into this. Also be on the lookout for the ingredient Sorbitol. This is an ingredient found in many foods, OTC medications, chewing gum and candy. I've found it in Anti-gas/Anti-heartburn remedies such as Maalox. Sorbitol can have a laxative effect in some people. My Gastroenteroligist suggested I stay away from these OTC remedies for diahhrea, gas and heartburn. I take Hyoscamine for the spasms of my bowels and Cimentidine for my IBS and heartburn. So far I haven't had any problems with the IBS or heartburn.
