Natural Remedies For Acid Reflux Disease

Q.I am 26 weeks and can't stand to think of another 14 weeks like this. Tums are useless and Dr. won't ok anything else. What about herbal type remedies? I am nauseous from the heartburn. Can anyone in the group help me please?

A.I don't think my heartburn was ever quite that bad, but I did burp from week 5 to the end of each pregnancy (39+ and 41+ weeks respectively). First, my OB said Maalox is fine, so I'd question your doctor on why he won't permit simethicone or other OTC heartburn remedies when you are so uncomfortable. I also found papaya enzyme helpful. You can get it in tablet form at most health food stores. It doesn't make the heartburn go away, exactly, but it does seem to make what comes back a bit more bearable if you understand what I mean.
