Natural Treatment Of Acid Reflux

Q.For over 3 weeks i've felt something like a "lump" on my throat. So I went to the doctor and he diagnosed acid reflux. That was a week ago. I did what he said: take an Omeprazole pill 30 m. before breakfast and stopped drinking sodas, alcohol, eating citrics and spicy or fried foods. I don't smoke & I workout everyday. So, after a week of treatment i feel even worse, the "lump" feels bigger, and i started having this burning feeling around my neck that I didn't feel before the diagnosis. So, how long does it take to relieve the pain, because I think that maybe i'm (really slowly) getting better, but since my esophagus and throat are already irritated, it may take a lot of time to heal... or is it that i'm getting worse? The irritation on my throat is persistant, it just worsens after eating, obviously because of acid. I'm tired of feeling this "lump", it's hard to swallow my pills at night, sometimes i feel like it's harder to breath and it just makes me feel miserable So can anyone in the group help me please?

A.Try taking some of the "chalky" antacid in addition to the omeprazole; it won't interact, and it may help with the burning. You can also drink a bit of milk to help, or anything else that is going to absorb some of the acid. If you've gotten a burn in your throat from the stomach acid, you may need to take something like Nexium (a drug related to omeprazole) for a while; it may also be necessary to take antibiotics to help healing. Given that it's been a week and the sensation of a lump is larger, I'd find a good ear, nose, and throat doc, and/or a gastroenterologist to have a look a things. They may want to scope your esophagus (if they haven't already) to see exactly what's going on in there. I've had it done, and it doesn't hurt at all (it sometimes makes you gag a bit, and that's about it).
