Over The Counter Heartburn Relief

Q.Can over the counter medications for heartburn affect birth control? I have been on the pill for a month now, and I know that certain antibiotics and prescription drugs can affect how effective birth control is. I am curious, however, if over the counter meds for heartburn/indigestion can alter the effects? I ask because I take these medications on a regular basis, as I am not able to afford prescription meds for it at the moment, and I want to be absolutely sure it will not interfere with my birth control. Can anyone show me the OTC heartburn relief please?

A.No they will not effect birth control. Antibiotics and other forms of prescription medication can effect them. But you are safe with the OTC meds for heartburn. You should be able to take a few tums just don't over do it and if this becomes a regularly occurring problem don't be afraid to ask your doctor to up your nexium. You can take papaya pills for your stomach problems. You can get them at any health food store. They taste really good & you just take 4 or 5 before you eat, (chew them up). Chew mint gum, or pop in a MINT altoid. Mint is a natural antacid- As is plain yogurt. Lastly, another really good remedy for tummy issues: Black Liccorice
