Pillows For Acid Reflux

Q.i am due june 2nd with my first baby and it's a boy...hopefully he will decide to come sooner! the last two months i have had HORRIBLE agita and heartburn. doc said to take rolaids and/or tums which i have. the last 3 weeks or so after i go to sleep i wake up numerous times throughout the night feeling like im being choked. acid reflux kicking in. my throat burns for hrs after. i try my best not to eat a few hours before i go to bed unless its a fruit maybe once in a while. i pop a rolaids before i eat and after then one before going to bed. i feel like i cant breath in the middle of the night when it kicks in. i try to sleep on three pillows now kinda on a slant so im not sleeping flat. ive tryed the pillow between my legs to sleep better as well but nothing seems to help. my doc says keep taking rolaids, but they are not working. is it possible my body got used to them?? any other suggestions?Can anyone suggest any pillows for this please?

A.When I was pregnant I had the same problems, though not as severe as you are describing. My Dr. said it was perfectly fine for me to take Prilosec or Prevacid for the heartburn. As your Dr and see if this could work for you. Just call the office and they should be able to answer you right over the phone. Also, the baby may be pushing on your lungs at this point, I had a tough time breathing near the end of my pregnancy too. i got that when i was only 20 weeks ... and it lasted until i was about 24 now it has calmed down... nothing seemed to work.. i just had to deal with it.. but what i can suggest is try drinking some milk... this kinda helped me.. i couldnt drink anything .. not even water but i would drink a glass of milk and it would kinda help for at least a couple hours but it would kick back in eventually... you could speak with your dr and he/she may prescribe something to you... even if ur appt isnt for another week id call in and explain to the secretary what ur experiencing and see if you could pop in just to get a prescription... good luck.. and i feel terrible for you..
