Pregnancy Heartburn Relief

Q.Is it heartburn or I maybe pregnant? I am few days delayed now. I have this terrible heartburn for two days since i ate a lot from the Chinese Restaurant, pepcid ac is not helping me. I don't want to call my dr yet. I discontinued the birth control patch last december cause it causes me scars. I'm not taking any pills right now but my husband and i were planning to get prescription this month. Am i too late for this?

A.Heartburn is most common in the second and last trimester of pregnancy. You might have some stomach discomfort, bloating and sickness early on, but not terrible heartburn. However, since there is a chance you could be pregnant I would definitely hold off on any pills or medication until you take the pregnancy test. Hormonal birth control can be harmful to a tiny developing baby. Birth control pills can also causes very early abortions, too, if you conceive while on the pill and don't know it (you might think the early miscarriage is just your period). Heart burn definitely does not mean that you are pregnant. You are more likely to get heartburn in your 3rd trimester when you are pregnant... the best thing for you to do would be to just run down to the store and purchase 2 or 3 pregnancy tests. If you think you may be pregnant, do this before you get back on any birth control perscriptions.
