Pregnancy Related Heartburn

Q.I have been getting bad heartburn the past few days, i belive i,m about 3 1/2 to 4 weeks pregnant, and need something to help. I've never had heartburn before in my life, I need to know what is safe for me and the baby. so can anyone in the group help me please?

A.Tums, and drinking ice water. You can try a glass of milk, that helps some people. Check with your doctor, but most will allow you to take philips or maloxx. But check first. You have to be extra careful what you take into your body durring the rapid growth stage of fetal development, (the first three months). But regular tums are safe. In the UK they prescribe 'Gaviscom' but as most indigestion / heartburn solutions are calcium based there shouldnt be a problem with buying any preparatory brands, Pharmacists are friendly people why not ask for their advice
