Pregnant Heartburn

Q.I am 5 months pregnant and have been struggling with the WORSE heartburn ever...? even water has been giving me heartburn. any ideas as to how i can minimize this. i dont want to keep taking antacids all the time. So can anyone in the group help me please?

A.My wife is the same u need to keep track of the foods u eat. Your obg doctor wont give u any thing for it becuse he cant. He will tell u took take antacids. The doctor should have given u a book on what u could take and not take. But the main reason the doctor todls us was becuse occurs because the hormone progesterone slows the emptying of the stomach. It also relaxes the valve at the entrance to the stomach so that it doesn’t close properly, allowing acidic stomach contents to move upward into the esophagus, a condition known as gastroesophageal reflux, or acid reflux. It can get worse later on in the pregnancy when the growing uterus presses upwards on the stomach Water did it to me also. I kept a bottle of antacids with me at all times. Only ones approved by the doctor. Try sleeping with your head elevated. I think the acid in your esophagus is more harmful than antacids often but check with your doctor.
