Remedies For Heartburn

Q.What are some safe nausea & heartburn remedies for the first trimester? i read taht tums should be avoided in the first trimester, but i've been getting heartburn & a bit nauseaous at times alread (only about 4 wks along).. what are some safe remedies? so can anyone in the group help me please?

A.Tums are perfectly safe and have calcium too. I am living on Tums right now! For nausea I had to finally call my doc and get a prescription for phenagren but that's because I started vomiting all the time. Gum and hard candy really helps with my nausea when I'm at work Milk of Mylanta if you can keep that crap down... I have never heard of Tums as unsafe to take. I took them with my first and second and they are just fine. For nausea...saltines, ice chips, ritz crackers ( they worked for me for a while ). I would recommend slowly but surely drinking water to stay hydrated.
