Severe Acid Reflux Symptoms

Q.Can severe heartburn or acid reflux cause vocal cord damage? I have had severe acid reflux for the past week and now my voice is becoming hoarse. Is there a relation between these two symptoms so can anyone in the group help me find out how to treat the severe acid reflux symptoms please?.

Do you know what is triggering the reflux? Stay away from alcohol, don't smoke anything, sometimes tomatoes and tomatoe products can aggravate reflux. Anything high in acid can aggravate the reflux. Try to keep track of what you are eating and change your diet accordingly I'm not sure if it can cause vocal damage, but I do know if its not treated (acid reflux), it can become cancerous to your esophagus. Ask your doctor about your voice being hoarse, he may order a mono test as its going around lately. Or other tests.
