I have Acid Reflux, and I've been having Stomach pains along with my condition

Q.I have Acid Reflux, and I've been having Stomach pains along with my condition. Help with the pain please! I went to my doctor and she already told me to not eat after 7 p.m., to sit up after I eat, and to sit up in bed when I sleep. However, the pain is still really bad. I took Gas-X for bloating, and I've been taking my normal Acid Reflux meds. Any other suggestions for pain??? *I'm only 15, so no pain killer things or Asprin.

A.I had acid reflux also and my doctor prescribed medication to take each day. I didn't like the idea of taking medication everyday to treat something that I was not experiecing all the time, so I started looking into more natural (nutritional) methods. I am no longer on any acid reflux medication and acid reflux is not so much a problem anymore. When I occasionally get the reflux, I will use the Tums or a banana (the banana seems to work better for me.) The steps that your doctor mentioned will definitely help. For diet, I started to look into more alkalizing foods (vegetables, whole fruits) and less acidifying foods (meats, dairy). My wife and I cut down on sugary sodas and juices to reduce acids. We also switched from highly processed or refined foods to more whole-grain or less processed foods...starchy foods that break down too fast tend to cause problems. For example, we cut down on white rice and switched to brown or wild rice; we no longer eat white bread, we favor steel-cut oatmeal over instant oatmeal, etc. As for your stomach pains, be sure to check if you are lactose intolerant (I had a problem with this also...I wish I knew this when I was 15.) Dietary Supplements like Lactaid will help, but only to a certain level. Eating a cup of yogurt a day will ultimately help with your digestion and maybe even build your tolerance back up...avoid the yogurts with too much sugar. I usually get the yogurt with the fruit on the bottom so that I can control how much of that sweet portion mixes into the yogurt...most of the sweet portion doesn't get consumed.
