The Causes Of Heartburn

Q.In early pregnancy one of the symptoms is heartburn caused through indigestion. I quite often suffer from indigestion anyway because i bolt my food. I seem now though to get heartburn with it - would this be a pregnancy symptom? Also i a few weeks ago i was suffering with cramps and twinges - these have calmed down now but when i eat food i get the odd twinge in my stomach and back - anyone else had this?Heartburn, indigestion and other various aches? Please can anyone in the group help me please?

A.Yes, heartburn is definitely a pregnancy symptom. Mine has usually been the worst during the 1st and 3rd trimester. 1st because of your hormones and 3rd because your stomach is smushed by the belly/baby. Tums (calcium carbonate) is a safe remedy. I never noticed twinges in my stomach or back...I always had ligament pain in my groin in the first trimester. That felt like twinges and a little bit crampy. I'm not sure how far along you are - or if you are even pregnant. But heartburn does ocuur in pregnancy... it can be worse for those who already experience it, and many times doesn't flare up until later in pregnancy when the stomach is being smashed by the growing baby - leaving very little room for the acid to stay in the stomach.
