Treatment Of Heartburn

Q.Last month I went to the DR for morning nausea. I had it for a good 2 wks. Showed up after we all had stomach flu and colds. I thought maybe it was sinus issues dripping, but the nausea was so bad, I was convinced it was much more. The day I went to the DR, I started to have heartburn and a sour stomach. She prescribed me Zantac. It went away. Four weeks later, we went thru a round of colds AGAIN...and now I can totally tell I have nasal drip, the slime going down the back of my throat. I have a slight cough. In the morning, nausea again and I can almost "feel" the gunk in my stomach. I took some OTC for sinuses. But I was considering taking Mucinex, since I hear it breaks down mucus. I have heard other people mention they use it for Post Nasal Drip--however, I thought this was for CHEST congestion. Just wasn't sure how this all works. I have the vaporizer going. Any other advice so can you help me find out the treatment for this please?

A.I have had the same symptoms of nausea you describe after bouts with sinusitis; it is amazing the amount of "gunk" that actually does go into our digestive system when our respiratory system is creating lots of mucus. What has helped me most is a prescription nose spray such as Flonase, etc. along with taking Mucinex twice a day (either 1 or 2 tablets) and the "old" Sudafed (every 6 hour dosing) to help nose drain. Simply Saline is a good product also for clearing out nose.
