Tums Heartburn Pregnancy

Q.Are there any adverse effects from using Tums for heartburn during pregnancy. I try not to exceed the daily dose, but there are days I do take the max, depending on my heartburn. Does anyone know any adverse effects that have been caused from Tums? I know the plus side of it is that they are loaded with extra calcium.

A.I was informed Rennies are better for pregnant ladies & they are not dangerous at all, they work better apparently & it even states they are ideal for heartburn etc during pregnancy...they work for me! As for the Tums, I am not 100% sure honey just use common sence and dont over do it with the dosage as you say All they are is calcium, so don't worry. Well and artificial flavours and colours and sugar. If you are suffering though try taking papaya enzyme -available at most health food stores. It helps regulate acid production. There are no adverse effects...they have a dosage for pregnant women on them...I took them as well when pregnant...dr actually prescribed them daily for the calcium content
